“Canadians. They’re a welcoming bunch.”

Today there was news that Canada’s population is rising exponentially above its natural population growth, no surprise considering how many immigrants are welcomed into the country every year. What is surprising, however – about the Canada immigration report that by 2031 the amount of immigrants in cities such as Toronto and Vancouver will outnumber those born in the country – is the sheer ease the news has been accepted around Canada. Whereas if the same statistics were to be issued in countries such as the UK and Australia, a substantial ripple effect similar to the ones caused by large cruise liners would be the result, the news in Canada, however, has been received with no such drama.

The crucial difference is that immigration into Canada is actively encouraged by the Canadian government, for the simple reason the citizens of the country are simply not having enough children. Whereas in the UK there are 16-year olds quite happy to announce to the world, through the medium of mid-morning chat shows, that they are expecting twins, Canada it seems doesn’t have the same affection the UK does for pregnancy. In regards to the facts available it would be a lot easier to say that most Canadians might actually have an aversion to it.

Without regurgitating the same old sales talk on what a great place Canada is, the figures tell there own story. Immigration into Canada is being taken advantage of by a mass of immigrants from all over the world, in particular Asia and the Caribbean. The Chinese population in Canada is predicted to more than double by 2031, from 1.3 million to 3 million. The straight-forward pull factor being the economic opportunities.

This is not a new revelation and I’m sure the voters are fully aware of what is happening, both on the ground and within the confines the Canada immigration policy-makers office. Canada’s approach to the subject is an election winner, for the opposite reasons found in other English speaking countries.

Notwithstanding all this positivity, the new shade of white and red this will create will be as exciting for the society it creates as it will be for the lessons learnt.

I guess we’re are part of those who will outnumber the ones born in Canada :)

We came to Canada via work visa and 2 years later we got our PR. Canada has been good to us and I thought we could pay-it-forward by sharing what we’ve learned in a Q&A style website at

But since our experience is limited we hope your could drop by and share your expertise with our visitors. Some of them may just be needing a short answer while there could be others that may require your services.

    Best regards,

    Greg
