Another day, another policy change, it is widely anticipated that the Tory/coalition government will today announce a U-turn on their UK immigration policy of capping the entry of skilled workers, predominantly under the tier 1 UK visa route. This has been advised against due to concerns that it will adversely affect the economy. Surprisingly this was the response of both the Lib Dems and the Labour party to the proposals of a cap on immigration.
With this in mind it is little wonder then that those within the opposition parties are splitting hairs over the new thinking towards highly skilled migrants. What is a little disconcerting is just how quickly things change in politics, considering this policy was by far in a way what swung the vote the Tories way in most constituencies. For as it might seem like years ago, the policy was only being touted up and down the country as what the country needed as little as 2-months ago.

Global Visas have opened an office in Cebu city, Philippines, making it the 7th office the company now has world-wide.
Here at Global Visas we are very excited about entering the Filipino market and the Asian continent. We feel that by bringing our brand of international immigration into the country we are establishing the fact that quality visa services are now available to one of the fastest growing and expanding migrant markets.
The Philippines has grown to become the 2nd largest source country for migrant workers in the world, behind Nigeria, however before now there was little in the way of access to qualified and certified immigration consultants within the country. Global Visas have now filled that void and workers wishing to migrate abroad will no-longer have to rely on under-trained and non-regulated immigration agents.

A new champion of immigration has emerged in the unlikely form of Dr Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury. He recently spoke out against people who feel threatened by migration.
Following the new coalition government’s decision to put a cap on yearly levels of immigration to the UK, the Archbishop announced that migrants should be seen as a gift that help our “society both to learn and to teach”. His comments were taken as a dig at his predecessor, Lord Carey of Clifton, who believed that immigration threatens “the very ethos or DNA of our nation”.

The contentious new Arizona immigration law was passed just one week ago and it’s already whipping up a media storm big enough to draw celebrity campaigners. Pop diva and self-proclaimed ‘She Wolf’ Shakira has been sharpening her claws ready to oppose the law, which allows Arizona State police to stop and request immigrants to show their USA visa documents.
The Colombian-Lebanese singer is no stranger to campaigning for immigration reforms and is an avid activist for Latino issues. She fears the new law will unfairly target ‘hardworking Latino families’, so in hope of revoking it she will be meeting with the pro-immigration mayor of Phoenix, Arizona.

But seriously this is no laughing matter. There is a company in Canada that has been trading under the name Global Visa. Ok, well that’s not great for us as they have obviously ripped our name off, but hey there’s nothing you can do about these things in the world of business (edit: well we might have done actually). What is giving us cause for concern, and no doubt the Director’s of the company sleepless nights, is the fact that this company is up to no good. Yes you read right.
