Immigrants become EU scapegoats

Basic level of capability, a dangerous move?

Basic Level of Capability, a dangerous move?

Today the European Parliament approved a contentious new rule to expel illegal immigrants from the bloc (Basic Level of Capability). The new rules come after anti-immigrant sentiments from wealthy blocs such as Italy, who are blaming foreigners for spiking violent crimes in the country.

France is also one of the countries that pushed for this new law that has had human rights activists protesting against. The last few years has seen France grappling with tensions in its “immigrant-heavy suburbs”. The EU joins bloc member (UK) in the latest drastic immigration rules implementation.

With the US credit crash affecting economies, governments are struggling and the old trusted scapegoat of immigrants (legal or not) comes into place as introduced heavily by the UK and Europe.

Goverment immigration authorities argue that the dramatic immigration changes across Europe and the UK are needed to preserve a countries economy and to let in those (immigrants) who will benefit the country, however at www.globalvisas.com we believe that goverments should be more cognizant when making immigration policies. Not only is the rest of the world being stopped from moving freely they have to deal with new discriminatory rules that are being implemented on a regular basis just to keep migrants out.

Many industrialised countries can not deny the contribution of immigrants labour to their countries prosperity. With global mobility ever increasing, whether it’s forced (refugees/illegal immigrants) or by choice (skilled labour immigration), migrants tend to move to cosmopolitan, developed countries. In return immigrants become the worlds scapegoats for when things go wrong and especially when economies and social structures take a plundge. Immigrants are only admitted to satisfy a labour shortage and later discarded e.g. UK discarding doctors based on the new tier system and immigration changes.

Border control is important for any country and yes countries do need to protect what’s theirs. However decisions on immigration control and law change so frequently that in some cases by taking thoughtless measures a government could be sending someone to their death bed.

A country has every right to protect itself but discrimination and racism and inhumane laws are incomprehensible, especially when developed countries preach peace and togetherness to the rest of the world. The new EU law on illegal immigrants is a scramble to regain power and give a solution to countries where they have not sorted out their own internal problems because of bad policies. In the end a migrant is seen as nothing more than “human capital”, and more “capital” than “human” and if he is neither, measures are taken to deploy him. (TM).

    i totally agree.
i am an Australian immigrant living in the UK and and constantly feel like a scapegoatto all of the UKs woes (mostly when it comes to crime and money!).
I think it’s so unfair that people from the EU with far less skills and much shaddier backgrounds than me can just come in but I have to fight to stay here.
I have built a life here but I will neva feel at home here…and what do the Brits say when i complain…”go home”…fine when i earn enough money ill take it and go home, then ull realise what you’ve lost!

This discussion has been on the forefront of national policy in the states too.

For me, it is a bit more complicated than just saying no immigration at all or whatever terms we are going to use. As a general rule, I’m opposed to all social welfare programs, be it citizens or not. I, also while fully supportive of people’s rights to defend their property, I do to a certain degree find the idea of national borders themselves which in reality only exist on a map to be silly. I’m also opposed to some legislators attempts to require people to obtain or provide social security numbers in order to obtain employment as a supposed way to cut down in illegal immigration.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that you can’t be taxed for simply existing or exercising your right to work. “A state may not impose a charge for the enjoyment of a right granted by the Federal Constitution.” Murdock v Pennsylvania, 319 U.S. 105, pg 113 (1943).

When the employer says you are required to submit a social security number or fill out a withholding form as a condition for being considered for employment or hired, is it based on a federal law/statute or just an employer making it up? I have a letter from the Social Security Administration that says “The Social Security Act does not require a person to have a Social Security Number to live and work in the United States, nor does it require a Social Security number simply for the purpose of having one.”

I don’t have a hard and fast answer to this issue other than no welfare programs for illegals; if you commit a crime such as murder or rape, you will be tried in accordance to our laws and procedures with deportation being a possibility (for whatever good it will do), and if you are interested in obtaining the rights and privileges of U.S. citizens, get in line like everyone else and apply. Exactly what rights and privileges we are talking about is subject to debate I suppose.

It is sad that some people who run for federal office make
statements that are either illogical or outright against
the Constitution. With all due respect to Mr. Baldwin, whom I’ve given consideration as a possibility of voting for this year, I have to agree with some of his points. Although his statements resonate with the general public, some of them will not see light of the day. In order to stop the “anchor babies”, Fourteenth Amendment would have to be repealed, not a very likely scenario.

If he plans to enforce the immigration laws, I suppose he
intends to deport all illegal aliens since he didn’t
mention guest worker program. In order to stop illegal
immigration completely, legal immigration would have to be
boosted to the level of illegal immigration in order to
fill the jobs. Remember that we are short about 40 million
Americans that became prey to Roe vs Wade. (We lose another
60,000 a year to traffic fatalities). On the average, there
is roughly 5% unemployment. If every unemployed person got
the job, it will fill only about 7.5 million jobs. No
politician/candidate even talks about the immigration
lottery that is held every few years bypassing the official
immigration quotas and letting hundreds of thousands
immigrants into the country to fill the jobs that are not
filled even by the illegal aliens.

A leader is supposed to lead, not mislead. A leader is supposed to calm the fears of the public, not play them up to further his own agenda. A leader is supposed to tell the truth. And the truth of the matter regarding illegal
immigration is that American people need to be prepared to accept the correct solution that is just, as well as pragmatic.
