So what have we learned from the general election?

I will leave this as an open ended question and let you the reader come to your own conclusions in regards to the answer. What is clear is that the people of Gt. Britain do not want a Labour government – that is clear, or perhaps more specifically do not want Gordon Brown running the country any longer.

This I feel was a blunder on the part of the powers within the party to allow Gordon Brown to remain, never mind the hoop-la about Labour’s UK immigration protocol, any consultation of the general publics’ views would have gleaned the fact that his self-imposed appointment was not a popular one – even before the credit-munch. If Labour were serious about winning this election Gordon Brown should have gone a long time before.

This was not the case and we are now presented with the situation at hand, amongst dodgy coalitions and muddled policies.

To go back to a favourite quip of Nick Clegg’s “There is a choice from the old politics that has dominated for years.” Really? Doesn’t look like that now. What happened to this notion that was latched onto by every media outlet going?

The only thing I have concretely learned from this general election is that the British press seem to serve the purpose of either; propagating idea’s connected to who owns the means of production or those that are purported to be feelings of the general public – yet, as with our soon to be ex-prime minister, both are well and truly out of sync with any real views amongst voters.
