I agree with the results, because I have not met many officers that are not rude. They are often extremely rude to people who due to their status need to go inside a special room along w/ other people and wait.

They just won't give a damn about the time of your flight and take their slow a#s pace to do their job. Once, I told an officer I had a certain status and form that I was filing, and he rudely corrected me. Well, I don't work in this field, how do I remember every single form's number / name?

There definitely need to be changes to how many of these officers treat non-citizens. We are non-citizens, not prisoners. It'd be great if they could learn how to put themselves into other people's shoes. You don't have to smile at me, just don't be rude.

I understand the reasoning for all the questions.Terrorists.ect.but they really make you feel like never travelling to the U.S. again.Doesn't tourist dollars spent in their country account for anything.I was leaving from Toronto,Canada..and I will never forget the officer asked me for some document and as I was searching for it in my hands he grabbed all the papers in my hand and said"give me these Iam not playing cards with you..among other things. If my yearly cruises did not always depart from Miami I would seriously go somewhere else.Carnival (American company)I love going to America, its to bad you get a sour taste in your mouth before you leave your own country.

I'm an American born citizen and can confirm that sometimes even females are rude. While my husband was getting naturalized (he was at the interview step) and he didn't answer the question properly because this woman's accent was heavy and he didn't understand. She snapped at him to sit down and repeated the question rudely.

We're going through other immigration paperwork for someone else and I swear I think I'd rather have somebody pull out my fingernails with pliers. Seriously thinking of packing up my family's basic essentials, loading up my dogs, selling everything else and moving to Canada.

Sometimes I seriously think that the entire population of politicians and immigration officials are bipolar and/or are paranoid and need desperately to be medicated. Contrary to their belief not everybody is a terrorist and out to get them. That's just nuts....a classic sign of paranoia. I say medicate them all.

One thing is to keep the planes safe for travel. It's entirely different to practically strip search 2 elderly people (my in-laws) right there in front of strangers. There worst thing my father-in-law could do is smack you with his hat, and my mother-in-law wouldn't hurt a fly. She's pretty good considering she's an in-law. Just picture this...a little old lady trying desperately to get her husband's tight fitting boots off with no help from anybody. Took her 15 min to get those things off while he was holding on the machinery to brace himself while she was struggling, tugging and pulling. Needless to say, they don't fly anymore. They take a bus (3 day ride) where it seems they are more lenient with the searches.

I am an American citizen and I can affirm that most Immigration and Customs officers in the U.S. are VERY rude and have no manners whatsoever with most visitors and with a few U.S. citizens too!
I think that in general people should go spend their vacation somewhere else instead of coming to this country and being asked sarcastic and stupid questions.

I think they are mostly only rude to non-citizens (permanent residents included) It would be unfair to say that all customs officials need manner and respect lessons, but some of them certainly need them badly. Expecially their curse-breathing mouths.

The immigration customs people are rude and they are not making any changes to improve anything. They make jokes of the passengers who the custom officers work with right in front of them. Also, they are patronizing and overbearing. In addition, I wonder if they even got the proper training.

Hi
I would like to share some experiences with the US immigration customs -I started my trip to the US on 22 Jan '10. We were being made to wait in a long line because the officers were taking at least 10 minutes to talk to each traveler. While waiting, i could hear the questions loud and clear in one booth. Is this their manner to be blunt, loud, and insensitve to strangers? talking to them as if they're some piece of shit.? As soon as it was my turn to make it to the booth. I got asked to verify my age (first time, i was asked that travelling to any countries from Australia), occupation status (i said student - I fibbed and this lead on to question what course i was studying...) and why i was here and if i knew anybody in US. And the fact i forgotten to take my itinerary with me to show proof of return details). Got hold up for half an hour, i was lead to a section where they asked me again my reasons for travelling to the US, and age and i told them my dates for returning and shown them the piece of paper that was written down (i remembered). Eventually i was able to get through the customs.

Is this just me stereo typing but i found the males US immigration customs to be really down right rude, paranoid and hostile and while the females were nice, polite and neutral?

I have second thoughts about ever going to the US again because of their horrible attitudes. So the survey results has confirmed it to me that they are still fookin rude and the worst people to deal with.
