The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Programme is a Canada visa service designed specifically for those wishing to immigrate to Canada and live and work in Canada within New Brunswick on a permanent basis.

As with Provincial Nomination Programmes in other participating provinces, this method of immigrating to Canada is intended as a route to settlement and accordingly affords a successful applicant Canadian permanent resident status.

The New Brunswick nominee scheme grants permanent residency to people migrating to Canada who can contribute valuable skills and experience and have either a guaranteed job offer, or can establish a business venture which will create jobs in the province.

In Canada, immigration through provincial schemes of this kind often result in faster service. If you like this check out Newfoundland and Labrador.

Successful applicants for migration to Canada under the New Brunswick programme will be required to sign a declaration stating their intention to live and work in the province.

Benefits

As is the case with all Canadian Provincial Nominee Programmes, the New Brunswick model is a route to settled status in Canada. Successful applicants will be awarded Canadian permanent residence.

Beyond this, subject to satisfying the three-year minimum residence requirement for Canadian citizenship, an applicant may be able to apply to become a Canadian citizen.

Unlike some Provincial Nomination Programmes for Canada, some candidates may apply for a New Brunswick nomination for themselves if they are applying under the business plan route. Whilst the guaranteed job route is an employer led process resembling a Canadian work permit.

The New Brunswick programme is similar to some of the federal business visa services in Canada in that it uses a points system in order to assess the skills and experience of potential immigrants.

Understanding the system

Candidates may apply for the New Brunswick Provincial Nomination Programme under one of the following two routes:

- Guaranteed Job Offer

To apply for immigration to Canada under this route, an applicant must be in possession of a guaranteed job offer from a company based in the province of New Brunswick.

In this category, the employer in question must apply to have the candidate nominated.

A guaranteed job offer for immigration to New Brunswick must fulfil the following criteria:

  • The position must be permanent and full time.
  • The position must accurately reflect the applicant's education, skills and experience. It must also be consistent with comparable employment standards and rates.
  • The position must be located in the province of New Brunswick.
  • In circumstances where a job fills a skill shortage, where the occupation appears on a high demand occupations list, greater priority will be given.
  • Applicants will also be assessed against a points system with points awarded in the areas of age, language skills, education, work experience, adaptability, and skill shortage.

A Global Visas migration consultant will be happy to discuss the requirements of the points assessment in detail.

- Business Plan

  • Applicants migrating to New Brunswick under the business plan route will need to submit a detailed business plan to be approved by the province based on its economic benefits.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate proven experience in managing a business and must have made at least one preliminary visit to New Brunswick to meet with officials regarding the business plan.
  • Candidates must also be able to demonstrate sufficient funds to implement their proposal and to sustain themselves and any dependents whilst living and working in Canada. Greater priority will be given to business plans which will create new employment opportunities for Canadians outside the applicant's family.
  • As with the guaranteed job route, candidates will also be required to meet the minimum points requirement on an assessment of their age, language skills, education, work experience, and adaptability.

Dependants

Immigrating to New Brunswick through the provincial nomination route like similar Canada migration services in other provinces is regarded as a route to permanent settlement in Canada.

As a result, provision is made for spouse and dependent immigration. An applicant's spouse, common-law or conjugal partner may join them on their application as may unmarried children under the age of 22.

Family immigration is also available to children over the age of 22 who are engaged in full time study and dependent upon their parents or unable to work due to a physical or mental disability. Find out further information on our Newfoundland and Labrador page.
