Singer Amy Winehouse, who was banned from performing in the US for several months following multiple arrests, is once again permitted to work in the US.

The singer was accused of assaulting a fan in the UK and was subsequently refused a work visa for the US, leaving her ability to take on the American market in tatters. However, she was recently cleared of the assault offence and has since been told she would now be granted a US visa.

Winehouse has a reputation for drinking and drug-taking but is also a huge star in the UK. She now hopes that her career in the US can really take off and is set to book an American tour to boost her flagging popularity in the country. She won five Grammy awards for her ‘Back to Black’ album, but has compromised her continuing success a result of her ‘wild’ behaviour.

Winehouse’s spokesperson said: “There is nothing to stop her getting a visa to travel to America. Back To Black was the second biggest-selling album in the world last year and she never had the chance to tour there, so it's on the cards."
