In an attempt to attract young Koreans to live in Australia for a year, while working in temporary jobs to pay for their travel, Australia’s tourist board is promoting its working holiday visas through a tie-up with Singapore Airlines.

As part of the collaboration, Singapore Airlines is exclusively selling discounted tickets to Australian cities like Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, for just 800,000 won (£415). These are available to young people in South Korea who fulfill certain criteria that allow them to apply for an Australian working holiday visa.

The flights have limited flexibility but dates can be changed and passengers can accumulate mileage. Once booked, the flights cannot be cancelled.

Following a surge in popularity, some 32,000 South Koreans travelled to Australia on a working holiday visa last year and the scheme keeps getting more and more popular among young people who want to explore a new country and work while they are there. To qualify for the Australian visa, visitors must be between 20 and 30 and must have an air ticket valid for their return within 12 months.
