Canberra talks impact Australian visas already

Australian visas discussed at Canberra

The list of occupations on the Australian immigration skills list is set to change, in the hope to attract skilled people to move to Australia.

The Australian economy is experiencing skills shortages and hopes to attract skilled migrants to move and work in Australia.  They aim to achieve this by updating the list of occupations that earns visa applicants a priority review.

The recent meeting in Canberra resulted in a decision to make visa rules more flexible to allow them to meet changing market needs.  The list of desired occupations was only updated last December and this expected change, so soon after the last update, reflects the Canberra meeting.

Visa applicants wishing to apply for an Australia visa are advised to wait for these changes to take effect before applying in case they could positively affect impact the visa application.
