Australian visas sought by Korean youth
The young people of Seoul, South Korea, are to receive more information about working holiday visas for Australia at a presentation being held by the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade today.
The presentation intends to equip young Koreans with practical information to ensure they enjoy the time that they live and work in Australia.
A ministerial official said, “It is necessary to provide participants with proper information prior to their departure“.
Koreans are entitled to travel and work in Australia for up to 24 months on a working holiday visa. As more and more Korean young people embark on Australian adventures, it is increasingly important that they are equipped with practical knowledge for dealing with things like illness or finding employment when they move to Australia.
The presentation will advise on settling in Australia and finding work and accommodation. It will also inform young people about how to study in Australia as many will want to take the opportunity to learn English.
Advice on fundamental issues such as obtaining the correct medical insurance and making sure visa applications are completed correctly will also be covered.
A total of 34,000 working holiday visas were issued to South Koreans in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
