A new tool has been launched by Canadian immigration to help guide employers through the process of attracting and employing foreign workers.
The Employer’s Roadmap is intended to help employers identify and meet their labour shortage needs and will also help skilled work visa holders to more quickly find jobs in their area of expertise.
Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism minister, Jason Kenney, says, “employers are key partners in helping internationally trained workers find jobs in their areas of training, and this resource makes it easier for employers to assess their qualifications.”
The scheme will address questions that business owners may have about employing internationally trained professionals on a Canadian visa for work purposes. It provides guidance on issues such as how to recruit, select and assess Canadian visa holders and how to integrate them into a business and help them settle into their new job.
The Roadmap scheme is the result of an alliance between The Alliance of Sector Councils (TASC) and the Foreign Credentials Referral Office. Andrew Cardoza, from TASC says that the Roadmap tool may help business to become more competitive through hiring immigrant workers. “This is a practical resource that employers in any sector will find useful in helping to meet their staffing needs and improve their competitiveness in a rapidly changing economy,” says Cardoza.
