A cab company in Canterbury, Kent has been highlighted as an example of how employing foreign workers in the UK are often preferred to British workers.

The owner of Cab Co, Robert Jones claims that he has hired more than 54 UK work visa holders hailing from 42 different countries. He has, in the meantime, only employed 6 UK-born drivers.

Although Jones is coming under fire from some critics, he claims that the foreign workers are simply better employees than their British counterparts, which is a response echoed by many other employers around the country.

Jones explained: "The Englishman comes to work, gets to a certain level and goes home."

"He doesn’t want to work any more than that. They’re more than happy to be getting home. But the foreign boys will carry on. If there’s a job, they’ll do it."

Jones claims that he employs people from outside the EU and that all UK work visas are vetted by the local council to ensure they are genuine before he takes them on.

One of the drivers, Mustafa Ustabas from Turkey, said, “If you are willing to work and can work legally, then nobody has the right to stop you.”
