Economic strength boosts working in Canada opportunities

The fourth quarter of 2009 proved to be a very successful period for the Canadian economy, according to new figures.
Statistics Canada figures show that
the economy saw an annualised growth rate of 5 per cent, which far exceeded the
3.3 per cent projected by the Bank of Canada. Yanick Desnoyers, an economist at
National Bank, said the recovery was "astonishing".
The recovery of the
auto industry and the construction industry led the way, which in turn has
created new jobs for Canadian visa holders and anyone thinking of moving to
Canada for work.
In December 2009, some 22,000 extra jobs were created,
with 61 per cent of industries reporting growth in employment – the highest
percentage since October 2007.
The number of construction industry jobs
grew by 2.4 per cent and the industry is still reporting skills shortages, which
are likely to be plugged through the recruitment of Canadian work visa
holders
New Canada immigration policy hopes to match skilled immigrants
living in Canada with jobs in their area of expertise. This makes Canada an even
more attractive option for skilled people looking to start a new life abroad.
