In New Brunswick a business mentoring program has been launched to encourage immigrant entrepreneurs to settle there and start businesses.
$75,000 has been invested into the project which will be in effect in the Fredericton area and will be run by the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce.
The aim of the program is to help entrepreneurs who have made the move to Canada to integrate into the business community better and also to encourage Canadian immigration from business people into the area. This will help the area reach self-sufficiency with their investments.
Chief executive officer of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Anthony Knight said: "We feel strongly that newcomers have much to contribute to Fredericton's economic growth, and we look forward to connecting our network of experienced entrepreneurs with business immigrants to foster this growth.”
Two sets of 12 immigrant entrepreneurs will be paired with business mentors in the first year of the program, who will teach them about the business culture of the area.
