US firms that employ skilled work visa holders create more jobs

According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, it is essential that US immigration continues to try to attract skilled foreign workers to live in the US.
Research carried out by the newspaper has concluded that firms employing more H-1B visa holders create more jobs generally through complementary employment.
Technology firms that hire foreign talent agree with this sentiment and claim that the figures showing that more jobs are created as a result of H-1B visa holders being employed are realistic. Executives at technology giants such as Microsoft and eBay have all said the findings are representative of their experiences.
Further research by the Wall Street Journal went on to find that this correlation between hiring skilled foreign workers and job creation in general, was not affected by economic climate. This finding adds weight to the argument that attracting skilled people from abroad to work in the US is more important than ever during the recession.
The newspaper says that if the US immigration department continues to reduce its quota for hiring H-1B workers, the entire technology industry in the US could suffer in the future, threatening the country’s ability to recover after the economic slump.
