Former Archbishop lends his voice to Balanced Migration group

UK immigration needs to have a reasonable cap on the numbers coming to the UK claim Balanced Migration group.
New immigrants arriving in Britain should have a better understanding of the UK’s Christian heritage, the former Archbishop of Canterbury has announced today.
Lord Carey has put his name along nineteen MPs and peers asking for all the major political parties to make a pledge in their general election plans not to allow the UK's population to surpass 70million.
In a radio interview with BBC Radio 4, he reiterated he was not asking for a ban on non-Christian migrants settling in the UK.
However he stressed that if concerns about the current numbers and type of immigration into the UK were not dealt with, it would leave the door open for far-right British National Party sympathisers.
Lord Carey said that the newly-formed cross party group on Balanced Migration believed that there had to be a "logical limit" and not an outright ban on UK immigration.
He continued that the BNP were capitalising from the "sense of unjustness" that many voters felt over the subject.
"If we don't do something about this, we play immediately into the hands of the BNP. That is very clear indeed." he said.
