Four illegal US immigrants have been charged with operating illegal massage parlours in the South Philadelphia area – this is the latest advancement in a police investigation that has so far led to the apprehension of fifty other immigrants in the United States illegally.

The men charged were named yesterday as Jose Claudio Cotonieto, Raymond Salazar, Nicolas Gonzalez Salazar, and another known only by an alias of Leonel Rubio. They were indicted on the charge of conspiracy to run a prostitution ring.

It is said that the outfit provided appointments for in-calls and out-calls and hired about seventy women from August to this month. When arrested the men were making more than $9,000 per week, US Attorney Michael Levy announced yesterday.

It is said that Cotonieto and Nicolas Salazar arranged for women to travel by bus from downtown New York to Philadelphia, where they would work for a week at the brothel and then travel back.

Raymond Salazar handled the phone calls and drove women to customers, while Rubio was the doorman for the brothel.

The maximum sentence if convicted of all charges for, Cotonieto and Raymond Salazar is a maximum jail-term of 180 years; Nicolas Salazar and Rubio face punishment of up to 145 years.

The US immigration and Customs investigation identified and detained 50 other people believed to be in the country illegally, ranging from males and females all from Mexico. They now face deportation from the country by US immigration.
