Haitian man finally gets Canadian visa to join wife

Canada visa granted to Haiti victim so he can join wife in Canada.
Stacey and
Franzy Gala have finally been reunited after Franzy, a Haitian caught up in last
month’s devastating earthquake, was granted a Canadian visa, allowing him to
join his wife living in Canada.
The pair met when Stacey was teaching
English in Haiti. They were married a few months ago and Stacey returned to
Canada while she waited for her husband’s Canadian visa application to be
processed. However, in the meantime, the earthquake struck, seriously affecting
the Canadian immigration office in Haiti.
Stacey was understandably
concerned for her husband’s welfare and has tirelessly campaigned to the
government to expedite his application to move to Canada.
After hearing
nothing for weeks, Stacey decided to fly to the Dominican Republic, Haiti’s
neighbouring country. Once Franzy knew she had arrived, he travelled to Cap
Haitian on the north coast where a contact from Rayjon Share Carea assisted him.
He then travelled to the border and met his wife. He received his Canadian visa
within hours of arriving at the Canadian embassy in Santa Domingo.
Franzy
has now arrived in Canada with Stacey and says he will “adapt” to the cold
weather.
