Highly skilled migrant workers leaving the UK

As the recession continues and UK work visas become more difficult to obtain, increasing numbers of Australians are opting to return home after working in the UK for a spell.
A service called Track Me Back has been set up to help Australians currently living and working in the UK, to find work back home. The service says it has had over 1,000 registrations from Australians over recent months.
Thousands of Antipodeans have moved to the UK over the past decade in search of the opportunity to travel in Europe and earn higher wages than they would at home. However, after 1 April, under the new points based scheme, non-EU immigrants who want work visas have to have a minimum of a Master's degree and a job paying in excess of £20,000. Therefore, many of the workers currently in the UK have to return home as they cannot renew their highly skilled migrants visas.
“The new laws are definitely forcing Aussies to weigh up their future and for many it means returning home sooner than expected,” says Caroline Rafferty, Track Me Back’s general manager.
