IT jobs are open to Australian immigrants
Australian immigration needs to attract IT professionals to work in the country to fill skills shortages in the industry and says it will fast-track applications from IT workers.
To obtain an Australia visa, which allows professionals work in Australia long-term, applicants need to fulfill the criteria of the points-based system. According to Australia visa experts, IT professionals are at a particular advantage as their visa applications will be processed by the Australian immigration authorities as a matter of priority.
Applicants who have skills in one of the listed ‘in demand’ occupations gain additional points for their application. Also, people who have skills in an occupation on the ‘critical skills’ list, which indicates an industry that is suffering significant skills shortages, will have their applications fast-tracked.
There are several IT job categories on the Australia immigration critical list including applications and analyst programmers, designers, systems managers and general computer programmers.
Australia is looking to attract skilled people to work in Australia doing jobs such as IT project management, data warehousing, LAN/WAN networking, e-commerce security and risk management. The country also needs immigrant workers with knowledge of SAP, Siebel, Unix, Java, .Net and Cobol systems.
