Job market improves further for immigrants looking for work in Australia
February 11 2010 by Liam Clifford
The number of unemployed people living in Australia fell by a further 5.3 per cent last month.
This was the third monthly fall in a
row and increases hopes that the economic downturn is well and truly on its way
out in Australia. The number of workers increased by 52,700 in January alone,
boosting the hopes of anyone wanting to move to Australia from the UK to find
work and a new life in the warm Australian climate.
Unlike the UK, the
job market in Australia is looking very healthy and many families, as well as
young professionals and graduates, are upping sticks and moving their lives
‘down under’.
ANZ Bank strategist Tony Morriss says the economy in
Australia is looking solid, "the strength of this employment growth just shows
this economy has a ton of momentum behind it."
Deputy Prime Minister
Julia Gillard added that the government intends to continue to support the job
market to boost the amount of work available in Australia. She said, "obviously
we want to get Australians back to work. We will be continuing to provide
economic stimulus to support jobs."
Moving to Australia was voted in the top 5 of destination Britons would most like to emigrate to in a poll last month.
