Lily Allen finally granted US working visa
America has granted the UK Pop artist, Lily Allen, 22, an American visa after it was revoked in August 2007. Allen was refused an American working visa after being questioned and searched for five hours by custom officers in Los Angeles.
Her visa failed to be granted following an alleged assault on a photograph and her subsequent arrest and caution.
At the time of the incident, Allen's spokesperson said: "Lily doesn't know why it happened, she is quite shocked." She added: "It's in the hands of the relevant authorities and these things take time."
Allen said at the time that she would try to overturn the decision by the US Authorities and continue with her planned US tour in September. As a result Allen had to reapply to London officials for another US visa. Her September US tour was cancelled as she could not perform until her working visa was granted.
At the recent BMI awards held in London where Allen picked up a song writing award, she confirmed that her working visa had been granted.
Smiling she said: "I got my US visa today, it means I can go and tour there and finish what I started, which is something I've wanted to do for a while. I'm so happy."
