Migrant workers in Worcestershire and foreigners who are considering coming to work in the UK can now access advice and support online.

WelcometoWorcestershire.com is being published online in English, Polish, Portuguese and Russian and will contain information that is valuable to newcomers looking to settle and move to the UK.

The website features advice about renting accommodation in the UK, finding local health services, information about schools and basic legal information that may be of use to those moving to the UK.

The website is the result of research carried out by the Worcestershire Partnership into problems experienced by migrants working in the UK. By providing information about renting property and finding a job, it hopes to prevent problems involving unscrupulous landlords and employers from occurring.

UK immigrants will, “be able to access services in their own language, which will assist with their integration into our community,” according to Audrey Steel, a local councillor and chairman of the Emerging Communities Task Group. She adds that the website will also give those planning to move to the UK an impression of what to expect when they arrive.
