Indian want a safe move to Australia
Chris Evans, the Australian Immigration Minister, arrived in Delhi yesterday to promote Australia as a great place to study for Indian students.
Some 435,263 foreign students decided to move to Australia to study last year, with students from China and India leading the pack. Chris Evans is now keen to show young people that Australia is still a safe place to live and study for people from India.
He is also keen to show Indians that moving to Australia to start a new life is also a safe option. Evans stated on his arrival in Delhi that Australia is a “welcoming and safe destination for Indian students and migrants.”
Evans also stated that work was being done to stop false immigration agents duping students hoping to study in Australia. He said, “we have registration of migration agents in Australia and that is regulated. There is an onus upon education institutions to use only agents with integrity, but there is also a responsibility upon governments to provide better protection.” He added that the Prime Minister’s Task Force has been partly focused on the problem and that the Australian Immigration department is also 'tackling' it.
