New Canadian visa offices open in Lebanon
April 06 2009 by Robbie Ragless
New visa offices have been opened by the Canadian Department of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism in Beirut and Damascus, to enable Lebanese people who want to move to Canada to apply for a Canadian visa without leaving the country.
“This change follows up on last year's announcement, which gave
immigration applicants from Lebanon the option to have their interviews
conducted in their own country rather than have to travel to Syria,”
says immigration minister, Jason Kenney. He added, “that was a first
step. We have now expanded the services offered in Beirut to provide
citizens of Lebanon access to all visitor and immigration services.”
The offices in Lebanon will be equipped to process fees and visa
applications, issue visas and answer queries. Canadian citizens who are
sponsoring family in the Lebanon to live in Canada, can now rest
assured that their families will be able to have their immigration
interviews at one of the Lebanese offices.
Previously, there was only one visa office in Lebanon for immigration
to Canada, which was based in Beirut. It only dealt with work permit,
student visa and temporary work permit applications.
