New Facebook app for holders of Australian visas

A new Facebook application has been designed for young people eligible for an Australian working holiday visa. The Life Points application has been launched in partnership with Tourism New South Wales to encourage users to aspire to adventure when they move to Australia.

Users can search the Life Points database to find a "Life Experience" such as climbing to the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge or backpacking along the Australian East Coast. They can then add the experience to their "Life Goals" list by clicking "Want To" or to their "Life Points" scoreboard by clicking "Done It." The concept behind the application is to get users thinking about experiences they have gained satisfaction from in the past, as well as those they have yet to encounter beyond coming to work in Australia.

New South Wales Minister for Tourism Jodi McKay said travel-based Life Points would encourage friendly competition and community interaction. Users could also take inspiration from each other’s Life Goals list, said McKay, and add experiences they may not have thought of to their own lists.

The application is likely to appeal to young people who can then obtain a working holiday Australian visa. However, the application may also interest other tourists who temporarily move to Australia. The latter category of people need to obtain an Australian ETA visa in order to visit the country.
