Studying in Australia is the safest place for Indian students to study abroad.

Studying in Australia on a student visa is one of the safest places to do so, a new report will say. A new survey due to be officially released during the Australian International Education Conference in Sydney has listed Australia as the safest place for Indian students to study abroad.

IDP Education, a student recruitment firm, carried out the survey of 1,130 Indian students and graduates. The survey found that 26 per cent ranked studying in Australia as the safest option.

Some 20 per cent of the Indian student visa holders said studying in the UK and Canada were the safest options.

Australia was also ranked top in terms of government policies in place to protect international students, immigration laws and ease of application for a Australian visa, with 19 per cent of the votes from Indian students. The US came second in this category, followed closely by the UK, Canada and New Zealand.

The Australian government has recently worked hard to take measures to ensure the safety of Indian student following some attacks reported earlier this year. A spokesperson for IDP Education said, "these results are very encouraging in the light of recent challenges to Australia's reputation as a quality, safe and good value provider of education to Indian students.”

It is also a welcome result for Australian immigration minister, Chris Evans, as only last week he laid out new plans to attract new Australian visa applications.

Studying abroad is still hugely popular among Indian students who wish to seek out a top-quality education, while gaining valuable language and cultural knowledge.
