Non-critical skills list - Australian work visa applications to be processed
December 04 2009 by Liam Clifford
Jobs not on the critical skills list will now be processed sooner for Australian work visas.
The Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship
(DIAC) has revealed some good news for people looking to work in Australia but
who do not have skills on the Critical Skills List (CSL).
In September
DIAC announced that there would be changes to the processing of Australian general skilled
visa applications. More details have now been released stating that non CSL
Australian visa applications are now to be processed over the coming few
months.
Previously, there have been waits of up to three years for people
applying for Australian skilled work visas, not on the CSL.
Processing of the non
CSL skilled visas will now continue over the rest of the Australian financial
year, says the DIAC. There are currently 3,500 such applications waiting to be
processed and this latest news is likely to be welcomed by these applicants,
many of whom will be wanting to move to Australia from the UK.
The exact
number of Australian visa applications that are expected to be processed this fiscal year is
unknown at this stage. However, those that are not processed this year are
likely to be processed next year. Therefore, anyone fearing a delay of three
years is likely to be able to move to Australia much sooner than expected.
