Canada visas available for Nova Scotia
A new stream is being added to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP), which will allow non-dependent children of previous nominees to apply to live in Canada.
The new stream intends to encourage the non-dependent children of previous nominees, who made the move to Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program, to join their parents in Canada. As a result, Nova Scotia will attract additional working visa holders to help fill skills shortages and grow the population.
Nova Scotia Immigration Minister, Ramona Jannex, explains, “with an aging and declining population, we are committed to attracting even more immigrants to Nova Scotia. This new option is an important first step.”
She says the scheme is intended to reunite families and encourage them to continue living in the province. The programme is open to the children of previous nominees who have been living in Nova Scotia for at least three months and continue to reside in the province.
Non-dependent children applying for a Canadian visa under the scheme must also have been named on their parents’ original visa application and must demonstrate their intent to settle in the province and that they can integrate with the labour market and economy of the region.
