Immigrants who have moved to Canada are to receive enhanced online services, according to the Canadian immigration department.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced on Monday that a new
internet resource is being launched to help people settle in Canada. The
resource is intended to make it easier for newcomers to access government
services.
The new Services for Newcomers resource will help people,
who have moved to Canada from abroad, to search for local and national
settlement services, as well as federal, territorial and provincial government
services. Users will also be able to send their search results to others visa
email.
Minister Kenney explained, “the Services for Newcomers resource
has been put in place to help newcomers find the private sector and government
services they need to succeed. With this resource, newcomers will easily find
the many services available to them, such as how to buy their first home.” He
continued to explain that the online tool will help to achieve integration
goals, “this can only increase their chance of successful integration within
their new communities, and this is an important goal for Canada.”
The
types of service available to newcomers include language training, housing
services and employment and recruitment tools.
