Pregnant woman faces deportation after overstaying Canadian visa

A pregnant mother is facing deportation as a result of Canadian Immigration’s latest crack-down on human trafficking and Canadian visa overstaying.
Sui
Ling Wong was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the Calgary sex
trade and now faces being told she can no longer live in Canada as she has
overstayed her Canadian visa.
The investigation has led to
several arrests so far, after two police officers were able ‘buy’ two women for
CA$8,000. Staff Sgt. Colin Adair said, "the ability to sell somebody else, it's
safe to say there's an organised crime element to it.”
Wong is facing
deportation and is also suspected of running a brothel and being involved in
human traffickin along with her Canadian husband.
Wong moved to Canada in
February as a visitor but has stayed beyond her visitor visa. The Canadian
immigration authorities decided to keep her in detention pending her deportation
to Hong Kong as she is considered a flight risk.
Wong claims she simply
came to Canada as a visitor, fell in love with a Canadian man and soon became
pregnant. She denies she has anything to do with trafficking.
However,
police and Canadian immigration have identified that a large number of deposits have been made into her
bank account, which she claims are winnings from a casino.
