Students advised to work in the US on working holidays
UK students, who are finding themselves cash-strapped but
wanting to travel and experience other cultures, are being advised to work in
the America on US visas over the summer holidays.
Gap year organiser Real Gap says that
there are many opportunities to work in the US for UK students who want to spend
some time living in the US while earning enough money to pay for their
trip.
Student debt is increasing each year and many students now find
that they have to work in the summer holidays to help cushion the blow of their
fees and rent costs. However, this does not have to mean a boring office job at
home, it can involve fantastic and exciting outdoors or customer-facing work in
the US.
Gap year organisers can help arrange work placements, US visas and
accommodation for students. Temporary casual work visas for the US are available
for any EU students who have already enrolled in their course. The kind of work
open to student US work visa holders includes food and beverage assistant roles,
customer service, amusement park work, sales and maintenance.
Embarking
on this type of working holiday can help enhance students’ CVs, adding useful
work experience for when they graduate.
