Recruitment tool launched for foreign IT experts working in Canada

IT professionals moving to Canada on a Canadian visa are now to get some help finding work in their field.
The Information and
Communications Technology Council (ICTC) is offering to help these newcomers.
The Ottawa-based not-for-profit organisation has launched several projects that
will help them to integrate with the Canadian IT workforce.
One of these
facilities is the Canadian Readiness Tool. The online tool helps
overseas-trained professionals self-assess their communication and competencies.
The tool also includes information on how to write a good CV and how to prepare
for an interview.
The service also helps people to identify where skills
gaps are and to apply for jobs in those regions or industries. It helps them to
match jobs to their specific skill sets, enabling them to make full use of their
talents in whatever job they choose.
The president of ICTC, Paul
Swinwood, explains that the tools help professionals to ensure they are prepared
for the Canadian workplace. They also help them to settle in Canada and make
full use of their Canadian work visa. He added, "employers have told us they
need a total package of technical, business, language and workplace
communications' competencies.”
