Romania to help its citizens secure US visas

Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking action to help its citizens apply successfully for US visas.
Romanian Minister of foreign Affairs Cristian Diaconescu said yesterday that he was concerned about the number of Romanian citizens being denied American visas because of failure to comply with technical conditions.
Diaconescu also said that Romania’s inclusion into the US Visa Waiver system depends on the cut to be operated in the currently high rate of rejections.
“We are currently seeking for solutions at the Ministry to help the Romanian citizens with the technical aspects, by offering them the possibility to better understand the procedures. Many of the rejections are because of the people not being able to comply with the technical conditions imposed and I believe that, at least from this viewpoint, the Ministry could improve things” said Diaconescu.
The U.S. visa application rejection rate for Romanian applicants currently stands at 25% which, although a reduction from 2007’s rate of 37%, is still far above the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ target of less than 10%.
