Session will advise Gujurat people about moving to the US
July 22 2010 by Liam Clifford
US immigration officials based in Mumbai are to hold an information session for people from Gujurat who are considering moving to the US.
Cathleen Carothers, the US consul general in the region, explained,
"Most of our applicants for immigrant visas are from Gujarat. We want to
help applicants and people who may be interested in immigrating to the
US understand our laws and the application process."
She went on to explain how the advice session will help clear up any
uncertainties and will reduce US visa application fraud. "US immigration
policy allows qualified individuals and families to immigrate to US but
sometimes people get bad guidance or submit fraudulent information in
order to get a visa," she said.
"We want to make clear that committing fraud is always the wrong decision for potential applicants."
The session will be held tomorrow at the Federation of Gujurat
Industries business centre, which will ensure that business people
looking to work in the US or invest in the US attend the meeting.
The information session will cover topics like eligibility for US work
visas and the application process for US visas. There will also be
guidance on how to avoid becoming a victim of US visa fraud.
