Skilled job vacancies increase for Australian work visa holders
February 19 2010 by Liam Clifford
Australia’s employment department has announced that the number of skilled job vacancies on offer has increased since the beginning of the year.
The index of skills job vacancies rose by 5.2 per cent to 44.4
in January and Febuary, after being seasonally adjusted. Although this is still
5.9 per cent lower than the same time a year ago, it suggests the numbers of
jobs on offer that can be snapped up by people moving to Australia on Australian
skilled work visas, is rising.
The number of jobs advertised in
newspapers rose 1.6 per cent in trend terms, also to 44.4. The number of
vacancies rose in trend terms for two thirds of the occupational groups.
Although the 'professionals' occupation group fell by 4.0 per cent, the 'trades'
group increased 4.0 per cent and the 'associate professionals' group rose 1.3
per cent.
The information and communication technology index also rose
over the past month, up 2.0 per cent to 140.3.
Australian work visas are
still a popular option for skilled Brits looking to start a new life abroad.
These statistic shows that the job market for skilled people who want to work in
Australia is healthy and thriving.
