South Africa immigration says a million have visited for World Cup

According to official figures from South Africa immigration , more than a million people from around the world have visited South Africa for the World Cup so far.
The total number of visitors during June so far has
reached 1.3 million, up from 1.01 million during the same period last year.
Visitors from other African countries have made up the greatests number of
visitors so far, many of whom have needed South African visas to enter the
country. The UK, Germany and the Netherlands have led the way in terms of
visitor numbers from outside Africa.
The official figures have been
collated by South African Immigration’s Movement Control System, which has
recorded people coming into and out of South Africa from 34 different ports of
entry around the country’s borders.
The Department of Home Affairs
stated, “We take this opportunity to congratulate all national teams that have
so far participated in the tournament in their quest to become world football
champions.”
A total of 188 people have been prevented from entering the
country as a result of more measures to stop illegal immigrants and people
without the right visas from entering the country during the tournament.
