Temporary work visas offer graduates great opportunities

UK graduates can thrive with a work visa
Moving abroad to work as an intern or as a seasonal worker for a period after graduating can genuinely enhance a young person’s CV and make them stand out against the competition.
Graduate jobs are in short supply at the moment and university leavers in the UK are finding it increasingly difficult to break into competitive industries. However, those who work in Australia, Canada or the US after graduating can learn a lot and gain extremely valuable experience in industries such as teaching and journalism.
Working abroad on a working holiday visa can help graduates gain interpersonal skills which will allow them to demonstrate their ability to cross cultural barriers and communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds. Working abroad on a temporary work visa allows university leavers to gain the ‘soft skills’ needed to flourish when at work in UK and to gain confidence.
Teaching abroad is a great way for young, educated people to pass on their skills to children. Also, their first job interview when they return home will feel like a walk in the park after gaining the skills to teach a class of 30!
Perhaps most importantly, taking time out to move to Australia or Canada, or another country that allows young people to work and travel for a year, gives graduates time to reflect and to confidently go after their goals when they return home.
