Thousands of Brits committed to living in Australia
February 05 2010 by Liam Clifford
Despite longer Australian visa processing times, thousands of Britons remain committed to making the move Down Under, with 70 per cent intent on living in Australia within the next three years.
Research carried out ahead of Australia
& New Zealand magazine's Down Under Live event in Leeds, which will give
visitors a free visa assessment, job advice and help with moving to Australia,
unveiled many Brits' determination to live in the country.
In the 2008/09
period, over 23,000 Brits moved Down Under in search of better employment
options, weather and the prospect of a new life, with the UK's financial
situation ramping up enthusiasm to get away.
John Weir, director for Down
Under Live, which is happening in Leeds' Royal Armouries on 27 and 28 March,
comments: "We know how many people dream of a new life in Australia so we expect
our event in Leeds to be very busy indeed."
He added: "Visitors to Down
Under Live will get all the advice and help they need in securing their dream
job and new life in the sun."
An estimated 12,000 Australian visa applications are made by residents of the north of England alone every year.
