New student visa info from UKBA
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has released more information on its website for educational institutions and employers that sponsor student visa holders and work visa holders who are moving to the UK.
The newly published information instructs sponsors under the UK visa points-based system how to renew their annual allocation of confirmations of acceptance and certificates of sponsorship.
The UKBA issues all sponsors an allocation of certificates and or confirmations of acceptance to last their first year. However, at the end of this year, sponsors need to apply for a new allocation if they wish to continue to be a sponsor. The current year’s allocation cannot be carried over into next year.
Sponsors are able to request the renewal of their allocations from 5 October 2009.
The new information on the UK immigration website explains that applicants must make their first request for renewal by the anniversary of the date on which they were told their account was live on the sponsorship management system.
Organisations that sponsor immigrants through different tiers of the immigration system will have to apply for a renewal of their allocations by different dates. Sponsors can use the sponsorship management system to check their expiry dates for renewal applications.
