UK Border Agency deals with UK visas

Holidaymakers are set to face disruption at major ports and airports after UK immigration workers voted to strike.

The strike by staff at the UK Border Agency could last for two days and is over changes in work conditions.

Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union officials are set to decide today (July 28) whether to go ahead with strike action pending on how talks with management.

In a ballot, over three-quarters of the 1,2000 workers employed at the UK Border Agency voted to walkout over.

If the strikes go ahead they could be happen as early as August 4 and 5 and are almost guaranteed to cause disruption at major travel destinations around the UK, including London's Heathrow airport.

A spokesman for the PCS union said: "People would experience delays in entering the country and getting through passport control."

There could also be delaying for visitors obtaining a UK visa.

The UK Border Agency said contingency plans would be implemented to make sure there was minimal disruption.
