Highly inflammatory statement gleamed form survey of 2,006 UK voters.
The English newspaper, The Daily Express has reported today that two in three voters in the UK think immigration to be a bad thing for Britain.
In what is claimed to be a “wide-ranging” survey on UK immigration control policies, the paper cites a poll by research company Angus Reid Public Opinion as the source for its headline that 67% feel that UK immigration is having a negative effect on the UK.
The poll which comes a fortnight after Gordon Brown gave his first speech on immigration since being made Prime Minister, quizzed a grand total of 2,006 people about the subject of UK immigration. Of the people surveyed it is stated that 56% believed that immigrants here illegally took jobs from British workers, with some 23% saying they believed that illegal immigrants should be allowed to work on a temporary basis.
It is thought that the survey also uncovered some support for the government and it’s policies, however what these policies were or the comments about them were not revealed by the paper.
