UK visa for sale at 20,000 GBP
March 02 2010 by Liam Clifford
A UK newspaper has exposed a woman arranging fake marriages in order to obtain a UK visa for the interested party in east London.
The lady who was recorded discussing the deal and later accepting a deposit payment calls herself ‘Lyunda’ and charges £20,000 for a UK-born spouse or £8,000 for a European.
The undercover investigation carried out over the space of a week and aided by Russian nationals living in East London, is sure to worry UK immigration at a time when they are under renewed pressure over false student UK visa applications.
The recordings show a European male called Oleg being introduced to the reporters. A deal is then negotiated of £1,000 to Lyunda as the ‘fixer’ and £5,000 to be paid to Oleg before they are married and £2,000 after 3-years.
When asked about working Lyunda assures the reporter that as soon as they are married they will be able to work, also asked on whether UK immigration or the Home Office will visit the house they are meant to be sharing, Lyunda is heard to say that ‘they won’t normally no’, but to have some pictures and maybe a ‘jacket’ just in case they do.
This will come as an embarrassment to UK visa authorities, at a time when they are meant to have cracked down on such cases of UK immigration fraud.
