The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) have launched a new website for the USCIS.
The new launch is part of President Obama’s pledge to enhance the tools available to people who have moved to the US or are applying for a US visa, in order to increase transparency.
The website offers information about moving to the US, applying for US visas and US work visas and enables people to review the status of their case. Applicants will now be able to sign up for text message or email alerts to inform them of progressions in their case.
USCIS’s new website provides the public with the latest tools—from text messages to emails—to improve responsiveness and access to immigration services,” said USCIS director Alejandro Mayorkas.
He added, “The redesigned website we are launching today reflects our commitment to listening to the public and creating a better experience for the hundreds of thousands of USCIS customers we serve.”
The new enhanced website will be a one-stop-shop for all US immigration enquiries and services. New features include the ‘Where to Start’ tool, a new information dashboard and details on case processing times in different regions.
