US Immigration Offer to Speed up Green Card Application for H-1Bs
12/06/2008 by Tamar Blieden
All H-1B visa holders at the end of their six years can now get their green card application fast tracked, US Immigration services have announced.
85 000 people are given H-1B visas every year and after its six years validity the majority of temporary skilled workers apply for more permanent status in the US. This process usually takes three to four months.
This service known as the Premium Processing Service will cost about £500 and take 15 working days. This service will however only be available toH-1B visa holders whose visa will expire in 90 days.
"The H-1B visa is a temporary visa that is given to someone based on an offer of employment," explains Colin Romberger of immigration experts www.globalvisas.com. "The US H-1B visa class is aimed at potential employees who will be immigrating to the USA in order to undertake employment in a "specialty occupation" were skills are desperately needed."
If the visa extension in the US is accepted by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) the applicant can then apply to receive permanent citizenship or a green card.
