South Australia jobs list
South Australia has struck out on its own with plans to publish its own shortage skills list for people from abroad who want to apply for an Australian work visa.
The Australian immigration office for the region has produced an interim list of occupations that are suffering from skills shortages.
It has also already stated that it is now accepting sponsorship applications from companies who wish to hire foreigners holding Australia visas.
The South Australia website states: "Immigration SA is pleased to advise that we will be accepting new Sponsorship applications for migrants who wish to live and work in South Australia."
State Migration Plans (SMPs) are still to be finalised and, although these have not yet been implemented, South Australia is keen to offer sponsorship for people hoping to fill the skills gap in the region.
The SMPs were scheduled to be released in August but were delayed as a result of the elections taking place in the country.
Some now fear that the new SMPs may not be released until early next year as a new Australian immigration minister is in place in the form of Chris Bowen.
