Types of Visa for Bulgaria

Bulgarian Tourist Visas

In Bulgaria, tourist visas are generally granted for a maximum validity of three months beyond the date of issue and permit their holder to visit Bulgaria for a maximum stay of 30 days. However, as is the case with tourist visas and business visas in many countries, the actual grant will depend upon the assessment of each case and its particular requirements.

Bulgarian Business Visas

In Bulgaria, business visas are granted as either single or double entry permits and can be issued for either three or six months. A Bulgarian business visa is a temporary visa and does not permit the candidates to undertake a position of employment during their time in the country. However, business visas do permit a range of business activities and are ideal for those who need to visit Bulgaria in order to attend business meetings or conferences, explore opportunities for potential customers, and engage in 'fact-finding' missions.

Eligibility

In all cases, applying for a Bulgarian visa will require a range of supporting documentation including a valid passport from the country of origin and where applicants are residing outside their country of residence, proof of residence will also be required. In most cases, applicants must be able to provide return tickets or travel documentation relating to the next destination. Where candidates are applying for a business visa, a letter from both the relevant company in Bulgaria, and the organisation in the applicant's home country must be provided. The letters should give details of the proposed duration and purpose of the trip, confirm who will be taking financial responsibility for the applicant during their time in Bulgaria and must be endorsed by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce. In cases where a visa is provided for the purpose of visiting friends or family in Bulgaria, a letter of invitation from the host in Bulgaria will be required.

Spouse Immigration and Dependent Immigration

Business Visas and Tourist visas for Bulgaria are short-term visit visa solutions and as such, they do not lead to long-term leave or the opportunity to apply for permanent settlement. Bulgarian tourist visas and business visas are issued for a limited amount of time and oblige holders to return to their country of residence on or before the date of expiry. As a result, short-term Bulgarian visas do not make provision for the spouse, unmarried partner, civil partner, or dependent children to accompany the main applicant. All applicants must obtain a Bulgarian visa in their own right.
