Zambia Visa

In Zambia, visas are required by the majority of foreign nationals entering the country for tourism or business purposes.

However Zambia does allow citizens of some countries to visit without applying for a visa for a period of no more than 30 days. These countries include:

  • Romania,
  • Serbia,
  • Montenegro
  • Republic of Ireland

Citizens of any other EU states will require a Zambian visa.

This 30-day concession is also extended to nationals of many Commonwealth nations though not to all.

Tourist visas are not extendable and will not lead to any opportunity to apply for long-term leave to remain or permanent settlement in Zambia.

Tourist visas are designed for those who wish to visit Zambia for a holiday and require their holders to return to their country of residence on or before the expiry of the visa.

It is not permitted to engage in any form of employment, paid or unpaid, whilst in Zambia on a visit visa of this kind.

Zambian Business Visa

Zambian business visas, like tourist visas, are issued for a maximum stay of 30 days within a duration of twelve months and may be valid for a single entry, two entries, or multiple entries.

Business visit visas of this kind are intended for people who need to enter Zambia to conduct business activities such as attending conferences, meeting with suppliers or prospective clients, or attending meetings.

Eligibility

All Zambian visa applications require a valid passport from the country of origin.

Proof of residence will also be required where applicants live outside their country of origin and passports must be valid for a period of at least six months from the date of entry to Zambia.

All applications must also be accompanied by a letter or invitation from the host in Zambia confirming the purpose and duration of the trip.

In the case of tourists, this can usually be satisfied through evidence of a hotel booking. For business applicants a letter from the associated host business will be required.

Spouse Immigration and Dependent Immigration

As with short-term visit visas and business visas for most destinations, in Zambia, visas of this kind are designed as a temporary immigration service for holidaymakers and temporary business visitors.

As such, no provision is made for the spouse and dependents of an applicant to travel with them.

If the spouse, common law partner, civil partner, or dependent children of the main applicant wish to visit Zambia, they will need to make individual visa applications.
